In case you've been recovering from too many Whip-Its the last few two days, Peyton Manning and Jim Irsay have kind of been acting like idiots, using the Indianapolis Star's Bob Kravitz as a carrier pigeon to toss public pot shots at one another. • Chuck Pagano Hiring Could Mean Good Things For Robert Mathis

    Stew Blake
    27 Jan 2012 | 9:00 am
Now that the Colts have found their man to lead the newest phase of the 'shoe, we can expect the defense to receive a significant makeover. Chuck Pagano's vision for the Colts defense is far from crystal clear, but he certainly seemed to be excited about the opportunity to work with Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis (if he re-signs) in 2012. On Thursday, Pagano gave both of the Colts defensive ends a ringing endorsement: "I was talking to Mr. Irsay, if Wade Phillips can go to the Houston Texans and install the 3-4 with no offseason and make Mario Williams an outside linebacker and stand him up…

Now that the Colts now have their new General Manager, and their new Head Coach, it's time to transition fully into draft mode. What better way to do that then with the annual Senior Bowl, which is Saturday afternoon at 4:00 ET on the NFL Network. It's the premiere draft-prep game for seniors to make an impression on actual NFL coaches and scouts, playing against one another. A good number of top prospects will be there, and if you're into the draft even a little bit, you should make a point of watching Saturday afternoon. The Colts obviously have a boat-load of holes to fill going into 2012,…

Ugh. On a day that we should be celebrating our new head coach and the fire and passion he will be bringing to this town, all of that gets pushed to the side for a storm that is brewing more furiously than ever. Peyton Manning isn't happy and now Jim Irsay isn't happy. After new head coach Chuck Pagano delivered an uplifting, confident, and lighthearted introductory presser, Irsay spoke with the local media and took the floor to air out some grievances of his own. While trying to remain diplomatic and respectful of his family-like relationship with Manning, Irsay didn't hesitate to take some…

It sounds like Peyton Manning and Colts owner Jim Irsay have kissed and made up. For now. The Colts franchise QB and owner have released a statement, insisting they are just fine after a week filled with complaints and comments suggesting a rift had developed. “We would like to dispel any misperception that there might be any hard feelings between us,” the two said Friday in a statement issued by the team. “Since 1998, we have enjoyed a great relationship, based upon mutual respect and trust. Seems Colts owner Jim Irsay is none too happy about comments his (former) franchise QB, Peyton Manning said this past week, when Manning took the comments to the public. Shortly after introducing new coach Chuck Pagano on Thursday, Irsay said Manning should have kept his thoughts “in the family.” When asked whether a decision on Manning was next, Irsay went into a long answer, calling Manning a “politician” and suggested he was “campaigning” publicly. In an interview this week with The Indianapolis Star, Manning said morale at the team complex was…

    25 Jan 2012 | 4:20 pm
The Colts have found their man, as the team has hired Chuck Pagano as their new head coach. The team made the announcement on its website. Pagano, who was the Ravens’ defensive coordinator in 2011, replaces Jim Caldwell, who was fired last week. The Ravens tough D allowed the third-fewest yards and points in the league last season, a major reason they advanced all the way to the AFC Championship Game. Pagano is the most recent defensive assistant in Baltimore to use that as a springboard to a head job. Others include Jack Del Rio, Marvin Lewis, Mike Smith, Mike Nolan and Rex Ryan. The…

After two years at North Carolina State and one year out of football, Trestman emerged as the Alouettes head coach in 2008, leading the team to Grey Cup titles in 2009 and 2010. • The Indianapolis Colts hire Chuck Pagano as the new head coach

    admin
    25 Jan 2012 | 7:19 pm
The Colts have hired 51-year old Chuck Pagano as their next head coach.  He has coached 10 years as an assistant in the NFL.  He was the Ravens’ defensive coordinator in 2011 and the numbers of his unit were very impressive.  The Ravens allowed 92.6 yards rushing (3.5 ypc), 196.3 yards passing (68.8 QB Rating) and 16.6 points per game (#3 in the NFL) last year.  The Colts are likely in for a culture shock as they aren’t likely to be the high flying offensive team of the past.  Look for Pagano to try to rebuild the offense right away in the NFL Draft.
  • The Indianapolis Colts have fired head coach Jim Caldwell

    admin
    17 Jan 2012 | 2:31 pm
The Colts have fired 57-year old head coach Jim Caldwell.  This shouldn’t come as too much of a shock based on how poorly the Colts played in 2011.  The Colts were 2-14 on the season.  In Caldwell’s defense, he didn’t have Peyton Manning in 2011 due to a neck injury.  The Colts averaged only 15.2 points per game last year while giving up 26.9 points per game.  They often looked ill prepared, especially offensively.  Caldwell was the Colts’ head coach for three years and he compiled a 26-22 record (54.2%) during the regular season and he was 2-2 during the…
  • The Indianapolis Colts might have found some keepers in the 2011 NFL Draft

    admin
    13 Jan 2012 | 10:21 am
The Colts had to get all five of their rookies on the field last year and that bodes well for their futures in the NFL.  Here is a look at how well the rookies played in 2011 for the Colts: In the first round of the NFL Draft, the Colts took 23-year old OT Blake Castonzo.  Castonzo played in 12 games (all starts) for the Colts last year and he played pretty decent.  He did miss four games due to an ankle injury.  He is going to be a starter for the Colts for a long, long time. 22-year old OG Ben Ijalana was a 2nd round pick last April by the Colts.  He played in 4 games (0 starts) before…
  • The Indianapolis Colts were a disaster at QB in 2011

    6 Jan 2012 | 9:17 am
The Colts never have had a good backup for Peyton Manning.  Well he couldn’t play this year and it ruined the Colts’ season.  The Colts panicked and signed 39-year old Kerry Collins to take over for Manning.  He only last three games (0-3), before his season was over due to a nasty concussion.  Collins played in 3 games (all starts) for the Colts last year and he completed 48 of 98 passes (49%) for 481 yards with 2 TD passes and 1 INT (65.9 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 2 times for -1 yard (-0.5 ypc) last year.  Collins has now played in 197 games (180 starts) in his…

The Colts gave it the old college try last Sunday in Jacksonville, but they fell just a tad short.  Dan Orlovsky completed 27 of 40 passes for 264 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 7 yards in this game.  Donald Brown led the way on the ground for the Colts with 24 yards rushing on 8 carries (3.0 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 15 yards (7.5 avg).  Joseph Addai pitched in with 19 yards rushing on 8 carries (2.4 ypc).  WR Austin Collie led the way in the passing game for the Colts with 9 grabs for 96 yards (10.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.  WR Reggie…

Ani G won the 18to88 Fantasy League this year. Here is his victory speech. So….what does it take to win a Fantasy Football Championship?  Well, for me it took 61 moves, 19 waiver wire acquisitions, 2 trades, and….. LUCK…. of course.  No, not Andrew, I’m actually talking about good fortune/big break/fortunateness/godsend, that kind of Luck. Now…It is funny how my Luck and that Luck went hand in hand.  If you followed my fantasy team (which you didn’t) you would know that with my first pick in this year’s FFB draft I took Manning.  I had no choice, he was right…
  • Colts Jags Breakdown

    31 Dec 2011 | 7:11 am
Andrew Aziz of Everythng Colts breaks down tomorrow's game What the Colts Need to Do to Win On offense, the Colts need to go pass heavy. Dan Orlovsky is gaining more confidence as the weeks go on. He had a great 2nd half last game, and let's hope that carries over to this game. To beat this Jacksonville pass defense, you going to have to be aggressive. You can't be too conservative, which means that don't go for the 5 yard pass each time. The Colts should take a lot of shots down the field as Rashean Mathis is out for the year, and Dwight Lowery is probably not going to play. The Colts have…
  • Eyes in the Backfield-Jaguars

    30 Dec 2011 | 8:43 am
6 Things to Watch For in Sunday's Colts Jaguars Game I never get tired of watching this. Last week the Colts toppled the Texans and turned an otherwise forgettable week 17 game into one of the most important games in franchise history. Or something like that. Here's what to watch for this week: 1. Watch for hyperbole. Look, if Andrew Luck turns out to be Peyton Manning, Part Deux, then yes, this game is a franchise changer. However, there's a solid chance he won't be. He could be a run of the mill Pro-Bowl QB. That would be great and all, but those come along far more often than "once a…

  • 2012 NFL Free Agency: Odds of Peyton Manning with the Jaguars

    27 Jan 2012 | 7:39 pm
The era of Peyton Manning dominating in Indianapolis is over. Make no mistake, he will not be on the Colts next year and he will be playing football elsewhere. Any scenario otherwise is pretty unrealistic at this point, especially with a $28 million bonus due to Manning on March 8 that will give the Colts no choice but to release the future Hall of Famer. The Jaguars in 2011 had the NFL's leading rusher and the 6th ranked defense, but had an utterly inept passing offense. I'll preface by saying that I feel Blaine Gabbert didn't get a fair shake at success with a cast of characters that…
  • Brad Childress Snags Cleveland Browns Vacant OC Position

    27 Jan 2012 | 5:08 pm
While the Eagles' current offensive coordinator appears to be staying put, his predecessor has found a new city to call home. Earlier this afternoon, the Cleveland Browns (a.k.a. Philadelphia: Midwest Branch) announced that they had hired Brad Childress as their new offensive coordinator. The move obviously stems from the relationship Childress has with Cleveland's current head coach, Pat Shurmur, who was the Eagles quarterbacks coach under Childress from 2002-2005. While this move isn't big news to most Eagles fans, it does mean that one more offensive coordinator option is off the market.
  • Downfall of the Colts Means Opportunity for Mike Mularkey

    27 Jan 2012 | 2:47 pm
In 2003, Jack Del Rio was hired as the head coach of the Jaguars, serving eight full seasons before being fired during his ninth season in 2011. Through those eight full seasons he coached the Jaguars, he never once lead his team into the playoffs as the AFC South division champions. Also in 2003, Peyton Manning earned his first ever AP All-Pro and won the 2003 NFL AP MVP award after leading the Colts to a 12-4 record. Between 2003-2009, the Colts had seven consecutive seasons with 12 or more wins and won the AFC South in every year during that span with the exception of the 2008 season in…

  • Indianapolis Colts Offseason Turmoil Continues; Peyton Manning Appears Closer to Release

    27 Jan 2012 | 2:00 pm
The demise of the once great Indianapolis Colts seems to be continuing. After a 2-14 season, with future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning missing the entire year, Colts owner Jim Irsay has blown up the entire front office and coaching staff, starting completely over in Indy. And, with the team poised to select Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick in April's draft, it is not looking good for the future of Manning with the Colts. On Monday, Manning was asked about his future by The Indianapolis Star , and if he was preparing to to leave the only franchise…
