Perfection vs. Provocation When Colts Face Patriots
14 Nov 2009 | 9:00 pmEvery generation has the cross-country rivalry it deserves. The early 1960s had Packers-Colts, a battle of hard-hitting teams with clean-cut-but-fiery quarterbacks representing rugged shipping towns. The early 1990s had Cowboys-49ers, a booming new economy feud pitting petrodollar-fueled bluster against Silicon Valley efficiency. The current generation gets Patriots-Colts, an Internet-ready morality tale of contrasting personalities: Peyton Manning's aw-shucks drawl and the Colts' P.T.A. picnic... -

Some of the early games include: Minnesota @ 13 Iowa 10 Ohio State @ Michigan Duke @ 10 Miami and Chattanooga @ 2 Alabama Iowa needs a win to lock up a berth in the Capital One Bowl, while a win over the Buckeyes would ceratinly help Michigan's chances for a bowl game. -
Know Your Colts History: The Answer in Indy
21 Nov 2009 | 8:32 amThe recent discussion about whether or not LeBron James would make it as an NFL player, got me thinking about how another NBA player could have had an impact in the NFL, specifically for the Colts. As we all remember, the 1998 Draft forced Bill Polian to choose between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf. We all know in hindsight that picking Peyton was the right move, it wasn't such a sure bet at the time. The only thing that could have made that decision more difficult is if there had been a third option for Polian to mull over. If it hadn't been for one player who decided… -

Gonzalez Close To Returning
20 Nov 2009 | 8:47 amWhile it is true that the Indianapolis Colts are dangerous as it is at 9-0 without wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez in their lineup, imagine how much more dangerous they will be when he eventually returns. Nonetheless, Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star is reporting that according to Gonzalez, he is on track to rejoining the team after going arthroscopic surgery on his right knee earlier this month. Gonzalez adds: “I felt like I was close the last time. So in that sense, it’s a little hard to say. I do feel the ’scope I had helped a lot. Now it’s just a matter of… -
Manning Rallies Colts From 17 Down, Edge Patriots 35-34
15 Nov 2009 | 11:34 pmThe Indianapolis Colts have gone from winning games with relative ease to escaping by the skin of their teeth, so to speak. As luck would have it, Indianapolis’ opponent Sunday was the New England Patriots, led by Tom Brady. But an interesting thing happened at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Patriots would seal their fate not by anything that Brady did, but by a bold – and questionable – move by head coach Bill Belichick. The screwup enabled Indianapolis to rally from 17 down to edge New England 35-34. But more on the Belichick gamble later. The Colts drew first blood as Peyton Manning tossed a… -
Manning and the D Close Out the Texans 20-17 to Move to 8-0
8 Nov 2009 | 2:59 pmThe undefeated Colts heard all week about how the upstart Texans were going to take advantage of Indy’s recent injuries to hand them their first loss of the season. Someone must have forgot to tell Peyton Manning about that. Manning led a first half Colts charge, building a 13-0 lead, then rallying with a fourth quarter TD from Joseph Addai to top Houston 20-17. The defense sealed the deal late, as with Houston driving towards what could have been a game-tying field goal, the defense stopped the Texans at the 24, and Kris Brown missed a 42-yard field goal as time expired to save the win… -

Pierre Garcon is stepping up for the Indianapolis Colts this year
21 Nov 2009 | 7:28 pm23-year old WR Pierre Garcon has really improved in his second NFL season. As a rookie last season Garcon played in all 16 games for the Colts and he caught 4 passes for 23 yards (5.8 avg). He also returned 1 punt for 5 yards, 22 kickoffs for 475 yards (21.6 avg) and he made 9 tackles. So far this season, Garcon has played in 9 games in which he has caught 26 passes for 403 yards (15.5 avg) with 3 TD grabs. He has also carried the ball 1 time for 17 yards and he has made 2 tackles. Garcon has come a long way in less than two years as he played his college ball at tiny Mount Union in… -
Indianapolis Colts vs. Baltimore Ravens
20 Nov 2009 | 4:52 pmThe Colts are coming off a miracle win over the Patriots last week and a lot of experts expect them to be flat this week. I am not one of them however as this is a good matchup for the Colts’ offense. The Ravens are giving up 208.9 yards passing per game which is the strength of the Colts’ offense as they are averaging 315.1 yards passing per game. Peyton Manning has only been sacked 8 times this season and the Ravens will be without Terrell Suggs in this game meaning that he will likely be comfortable in the pocket. If he has time to throw the ball he will pick the… -
Indiapolis Colts 35, New England Patriots 34
16 Nov 2009 | 9:02 pmThe Indianapolis Colts (9-0) should be thanking New England Patriots’ (6-3) head coach Bill Belichick for this win. With 2:08 to play and on their own 28-yard line, Belichick decided to go for it on 4th and 1. The Patriots were up 34-28 at the time and could have made things a lot more difficult for Peyton Manning and the Colts’ offense by punting the ball. They decided to go for it though and did not get it, giving Manning a short field to work with. He made quick work of the Patriots offense and actually purposely ran some time down before hitting Reggie Wayne in the… -
Indianapolis Colts vs New England Patriots preview
13 Nov 2009 | 6:57 pmThis is the game of the week and perhaps the regular season game of the year, as Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts (8-0) face off against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Both quarterbacks are great, but I have always though Peyton Manning is the better quarterback and that is why I think they are going to win this game. The Patriots are borderline cheaters and Tom Brady doesn’t have the ability to read a defense like Peyton does. Manning is proving he is the better quarterback this year, with over 300 passing yards every game but one. This game will help solidify… -
The Indianapolis Colts sign CB Anthony Madison
10 Nov 2009 | 8:44 pmThe Colts have signed 28-year old CB Anthony Madison. Madison played in 4 games for the Browns earlier this season and he made 2 tackles. In his four year career, Madison has played in 42 games in which he has made 44 tackles. This was a good move for the Colts as Madison gives them some depth at corner and he is a good special teams player.

Who to Root for: Week 11
21 Nov 2009 | 8:17 amThe Colts face another tough test in Baltimore this week. They are closing in on locking up a bye. The other AFC powers can't afford to slip up. Let's take a look at the important games of week eleven in the NFL. Easy Calls Pittsburgh at Kansas City: Call me crazy, but this game could be closer than you think. The Steelers haven't played well without Troy Polamalu, who will be out. Cincinnati at Oakland: Another 7-2 team heading out west to face a struggling 2-7 team. Chances are either the Bengals or Steelers will lose. That's just life in the NFL. The Bengals have… -
Eyes in the Backfield-Ravens
20 Nov 2009 | 3:23 am18 Things to Watch for in this Sunday's Colts/Ravens Game Yeah, I don't think this qualifies as a 'rivalry' Last week's game was one of the greatest of all time. This week's game? Well, it should be pretty solid in its own way. Indy travels to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in a matchup of preseason favorites in the AFC. Indy, of course, is off to a 9-0 start. The Ravens? They are really glad they've played Cleveland twice. They currently sit at 5-4 and desperately need to win this game at home on Sunday to stay in a tough AFC playoff race that might just require 11 wins to… -
Give and Take-Ravens
20 Nov 2009 | 1:23 am18to88 trades questions with Baltimore Blog Right of Russell 18to88: 1. In the hearts of Ravens fans, what drives this rivalry more right now: Indy's recent dominance of the Ravens or the Colts leaving Baltimore? In other words, is this a big game because the Colts have stood in the Ravens way or because of the history of the cities? RoR: While it certainly was an extra kick in the pants to lose to the Colts in the divisional play-off game almost three seasons ago in Baltimore, I would argue that there is greater bitterness among former Colt and current Ravens fans because of the… -
The Perfect Crime?
19 Nov 2009 | 3:17 pmIt hit me yesterday that the Colts are 9-0. We are about to witness a flood of obnoxious articles about their quest for perfection. This being one of the first. Colts fans will be reminded of the 13-0 start to 2005. We'll hear Tony Dungy's thoughts and be reminded of some difficult what ifs. We will be reminded of New England's EPIC FAIL. We'll hear about the Dolphins and their champagne. We will talk about what it would mean for Manning (or Brees) to go where no man has gone before. But first let's agree on a couple ground rules: 1.) Perfection means 19-0. Obviously. … -

Manning On Top
21 Nov 2009 | 4:51 pmPeyton Manning enters week 11 as the current leader for passing yards (2872), passing touchdowns (20), and is quarterbacking the league’s top team (tied with Saints at 9-0). Manning has put himself in the center of the MVP mix this season, and is in serious contention to obtain his second super bowl ring. This season is proving to be another trademark year on Manning’s resume, a resume that is shaping up to be one of the greatest of all time. AFC South Predictions: Week 11
21 Nov 2009 | 11:29 amAFC South Prediction Record: 26-10 Buffalo Bills (3-6) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (5-4) The Bills have parted ways with head coach Dick Jauron after a season that has not lived up to expectations for many Bills fans. After reeling off two big wins in a row, the Bills have dropped their last two games, and management thought it was time for a change. On the other hand the Jaguars are above the .500 mark for the first time this season, and they are currently on a two game winning streak. The Jaguars are led by All-Pro running back, Maurice Jones-Drew, who has 860 rushing yards this season and 12… -
Let Down Game?
19 Nov 2009 | 9:45 amAfter a huge win against the New England Patriots, the Indianapolis Colts will travel to their original city to face the Baltimore Ravens. At 5-4 the Ravens are trying to stay in the hunt for a playoff birth, but with the Bengals and Steelers ahead of them the Ravens are facing an uphill struggle. On the other hand, the Colts have all but secured a playoff birth, and more than likely and AFC South division title. However, as good as this season has gone for the Colts this season, Sunday’s game may be more difficult then people are expecting. Traveling to Baltimore to face a team that… -

Led by a potent running attack this Titans team is back to playing smashmouth football, and this weekend they will face a Bills team that is giving up 174 rushing yards on the ground to opposing offenses. 21 Nov 2009 | 5:18 pmThe Colts 35-34 victory over the Patriots last week made some movement at the top of our rankings, as both teams moved up a spot in the Adjusted Rankings. The Colts moved up to #3, and the Patriots now take the top spot, with the 2nd best Offense, and 8th best Defense. As we all remember, the 1998 Draft forced Bill Polian to choose between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf. The only thing that could have made that decision more difficult is if there had been a third option for Polian to mull over. If it hadn't been for one player who decided… -
Patriots in the RedZone, sponsored by ComCast
21 Nov 2009 | 6:43 amTalk 4th and 2 all you want. In our matchup against the Colts, we went 3 for 6 in the RedZone. And, in the case of this past Sunday, it was certainly one of the contributing factors to our loss. In for 6 vs. a Stephen Gostkowski field goal and game over. Despite its troubles in the RedZone, New England is at 45% for the year. Not bad, but it would be good to see some… -
NFL Picks & Pans: Week 11
21 Nov 2009 | 5:56 amby Gail Burton - AP 3 days ago: FILE - This is a Sept. 27, 2009, file photo showing Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn leaves the field after an NFL football game against the Baltimore Ravens, in Baltimore. Quinn has been fined by the NFL for his chop block on Baltimore's Terrell Suggs. After throwing an interception in Monday night's 16-0 loss to the Ravens, Quinn dived at Suggs' knees while trying to bring down cornerback Chris Carr, who had picked him off. Suggs had to leave the game and could miss significant playing time. (AP Photo/Gail Burton, File) View full size photo »…
